When a cycle of IVF or ICSI results in more high-quality embryos than needed for immediate transfer, the surplus embryos are cryopreserved. Our center provides the facility to freeze embryos for the quantity desired by the couple and for their requested duration (even several years) in our embryo bank. This method allows couples to have another chance at pregnancy—whether due to an unsuccessful initial transfer or for subsequent children in the future—without needing to repeat the strenuous processes of ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval (puncture). The freezing process causes no structural or genetic damage to the embryos.

After the embryos have formed and developed in an incubator for 3 to 5 days, one or two high-quality embryos are transferred into the mother's uterus to initiate the natural implantation and pregnancy process.

The sperm obtained via PESA are typically of excellent quality for use in ICSI cycles.
